Special Needs Support Group

VeTSDC came across some information that we think you all might find pertinent. We are always on the lookout for great support groups and free services in the area. Here's what we've found:

Friends Helping Friends
Every third Thursday from 6-7:30pm Aptitude Habilitation Services hosts a support group for any all all who are raising a child with special needs. They're located at 31955 SR 20 in suite #3, childcare is provided but you will need to contact Stephanie. If you are seeking people to talk with that understand what you are going through then feel free to stop by. They also have a Facebook page if you want to see what it's all about. –4th of July Parade–

We had so much fun walking in the parade with fellow veterans and their families! We want to thank those who came out and walked with VeTSDC this year! Here are a few photos from the parade! ProLog Job Opportunity!

A little about the company:

   Aviation Maintenance (Logistics & MRO)

General Clerk II: $14.80/HR

The employee will perform administrative and clerical duties in support of a Naval Aviation squadron.  The duties may include:

   Navy correspondence:  Preparation of standard Navy correspondence, letters, and messages.
   FITREPS/EVALS:  Familiarization with preparation of evaluations and reports of fitness.
   Personnel transactions:  Processing of personnel actions such as leave, pay, Page 2 preparation, SGLI, travel, and security clearances.  Personnel accounting procedures including muster reports, gains, and losses.
   Records Management:  File storage, maintenance, archival, retrieval, and destruction.
   Customer Service:  Ability to manage phone and face-to-face customer transactions.  Professional demeanor in an office setting, demonstrating courtesy at all times.
   Awards:  Drafting, typing, processing, submission, and distribution of awards.
   Official Travel Support:  Preparation of no-fee passport applications, TAD orders, travel arrangements, Government Travel Credit Card applications, and processing travel vouchers.  Familiarization with Defense Travel System (DTS) and Government Travel Credit Card (GTCC) programs.
   Maintenance Administration and Operational Administration support.  Naval Aviation support including SHARP and NALCOMIS database maintenance and other functions associated with flight training logs and records.
   Executive secretarial support to the Commanding Officer and Executive Officer.
   Official Mail Management:  Receipt, appropriate handling, and distribution of U.S. Mail.

Qualifications:
   Must be ability to work in an Office Setting and be able to lift up to seven pounds.

Required Experience, Training & Certifications:
   The successful applicant will possess 2-3 years of previous administrative experience working in a well-structured, hierarchical office environment, a working knowledge of military procedures and protocol, a high knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, a mature and respectful demeanor, and a professional appearance.

Required Education Level: 
   High School Graduate or Equivalent

Required Security Clearance Eligibility:  
   Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain and maintain Department of Defense Secret Security Clearance eligibility.

Before and After School Program– There are openings from 6:30-8:30am and 3:15-5:30pm. There are families currently in need of this service so if you are interested in working in this program contact the Oak Harbor Christian School office for more details.

Teaching Position– The Oak Harbor Christian School is seeking teachers for the pre-school and substitute instructional assistants for grades K-6 (needed immediately). They also are advertising for additional teaching staff for the upcoming 2016-2017 school year. Teachers with musical and/or technology expertise are especially encouraged to apply.

If you want to walk with VeTSDC in the parade just let us know you'll be participating in our "4th of July Parade" Event on Facebook! Everyone is welcome just wear red, blue, or your VeTSDC t-shirts. We will be passing out candy and beads too, so bring your throwing arm!

–Day of Caring: Volunteer Opportunity–




VeTSDC is volunteering with United Way on their Day of Caring. 

It is "The biggest volunteer event in the state is calling your name. With 10,000 volunteers, Day of Caring is THE day to give your time and energy to our area's nonprofits" is how United Way describes the event that it sponsors around the country. We have adopted Oak Harbor Christian School. Some of the projects will include sanding and refinishing the front bench, putting down reflecting striping around outside steps, and general grounds maintenance. If you want to give back or obtain some volunteer hours please stop by and lend us a hand! 


Please be sure to arrive by no later than 8:15am at suite 101 refreshments and snacks will be served.
